Land of Nevard enters a NEW ERA!

Everyone can think of a game that has been around for as long as they can remember, a game that falls behind the competition over the years but today Land of Nevard after 13 years of activity, is being catapulted into the race with a new aesthetically gifting revamp and structure!

This game now has so much to offer on the eyes, also bringing smoothness to gameplay in a dramatic turnaround! 7 new and amazing changes to the game bring out the potential to be one of the best PBBG's (Persistent Browser-Based Games) on the internet!

New Chat System

We recently upgraded our chat system, making it a lot easier to communicate with fellow friends and players!

This includes a variety of things:

Starting with the removal of chat channels that were not being used or were too inactive. As of the new update, the following channels will no longer be available: noob, donator, alliance, and sarcasm.

However, to compensate for removing things, new features were added:

When playing on a smaller resolution the chat will auto hide to make the screen look a lot less cluttered.

We now have a right-click option! It harbours actions that you previously had to manually type into the chat like sending a private message or muting a user. However, left click does what it used to so it should be the best of both worlds for both old and new players. If you really do have something private to say, I would suggest a right click to be safe as accidents can and will happen! Simply right-click the person you wish to Private Message and it will bring up a context box with options "Whisper" "View Profile" or for those annoying people, "Ignore".

Inactive chat tabs will display a counter which will tell you how many new messages were sent since you last opened the tab! So, for those who fear missing an enjoyable conversation, fear not! Also, if you hover your mouse over the specific message in the chat, it will tell you when the message was sent with both an exact time and a nice human readable part! Nothing like being precise, huh?

Finally finishing off with the last change, STAFF can NO LONGER see Guild chats. It used to be that staff could see all chat channels (except private messages) for monitoring purposes. With this update, staff can no longer see other guild chats (guilds need their privacy too!) so it will be the responsibility of the guild staff to monitor their own guild chat.

New Server

Completely new hardware infrastructure! We have finally moved to cloud computing.

WTS, CTF, and Maze

Weird Throwing Stuff (WTS) has been removed from the game. WTS may be brought back periodically for special events, and could be renamed to "Event Collectibles".

The maze has been permanently removed.

Capture the flag has been removed, no plans at this time to re-add it.

New Player Tutorial

Ever play those games where you just do not have any idea what to do? Well here in the Land of Nevard that will never be a problem again! We have a very helpful tutorial that will guide you through the basic steps to becoming the ultimate Warrior or Wizard. This will be in place until you complete it or reach Level 15, just so you are comfortable with the gameplay. After that, you are on your own...

…but not really since staff should be available most of the time and there is a wiki if you really want to dive deep into the details. Will you make it to greatness against all the others out there?

If you are still slightly unsure about something on the game, do not fear, you can either ask in game, or you will be prompted with a (?) Icon. By clicking this, it will open a Wiki page based entirely on LoN that is updated by the game's most experienced players!

New Layout (Now Mobile Friendly)

Remember those days when you think you have no plans and you fancy a bit of time in front of the computer but then suddenly something crops up and you must drag yourself away? Not anymore!

Take us anywhere and everywhere you go with our new Mobile friendly site.

We have a bunch of other layouts to come once you become accustomed to the update! So, keep your eyes peeled for those.

Auto-Fighter Nerf

For a while, we had the Auto-Fighter in the game, with everyone starting with 50 fights. The number of fights you had was based on the amount you had donated to the game, so you could up them with every dollar donated. However, this had a negative effect on the game making it very anti-social as people would just turn their auto on and go AFK. This was not what we wanted to happen, so we have recently decided to nerf it! Players will now be logged out after two hours, even if they are auto-fighting unless they are actively browsing the game or using chat.

Automated Guild Equipment Lending

There is a new feature guilds can unlock called "Automated Armoury"!

Guild members will be able to borrow equipment from their guild without requesting it, but they will only be able to borrow one equipment of each type (weapon, armour, helm, shield, spell, cloak, scepter, and field).

If a player requests an item type they already have then it will go into the request queue for an Outfitter, Co-Leader, or Leader to accept or decline.

Right now, you might be asking yourself "what happens if I request an item before I return the one I have?"

We added a feature, for all guilds (even guilds without the Automated Armoury feature unlocked), that allows you to cancel your request.

Time Zone

Game time has been switched from Central Time Zone to Coordinated Universal Time (UTC).

SSL (Secure Sockets Layer) aka The Little Green Lock

With the updates comes extra security. Now the game has finally joined the new secure internet.

SSL is the backbone of secure Internet and it protects your sensitive information as it travels across the world's computer networks. SSL is essential for protecting our website, even if It doesn't handle sensitive information like credit cards. It provides privacy, critical security and data integrity for both our website and our players’ personal information. It also gives some speed benefits for players with newer browsers, so make sure to update!

Multiple Code Improvements

As with all games, there are always small errors in coding. We usually have to report them to the managers to be fixed. In this update, many old bugs were squashed and efforts were made to catch new ones before they crawl under the rug again! This means you should have fewer hiccups while playing the game. But even if you encounter one or two, be assured the bug exterminators will also know about them and will kick into action like never before.
